Jupiter is in retrograde at 19 Cap 52' 11"

In a general sense, at first glance, Jupiter sounds like an alright planet. The Greater Benefic, that implies it’s...well, beneficial, right? Kind of. This planet rules higher truths, wisdom, law, teaching, expansion, and risk taking. Cast in this “bringer of abundance” light- yeah, I don’t know, don’t ask me to explain woo-speak. I can translate it but I don’t get it, either. Jupiter may seem a pretty great planetary influence both in a natal chart and in transit. Jupiter is a very long game kinda player: spending roughly a year and a half in each sign. So, give or take, about 12 years to go full circle. Thing is, it depends on what sign it’s hanging out in and how that interacts with the rest of things. For instance, if I tell you that Jupiter is “in its fall” in Capricorn: jeez, that sounds bad, doesn’t it? You have big dreams, plans for expansion meets a Saturn ruled sign renowned for plotting, planning, and discipline. Do the math. Astrology is like math, psychology, astronomy and psychology had an orgy, so yes, you have to. No one's taken it on Maury, yet.

Saturn is in retrograde at 27 Cap 39' 37"

If Jupiter is known as The Great Benefic- you know there has to be a bad guy. Saturn, well, is sort of that bad guy. There are a few reasons for this, but, it’s important to understand two key concepts in astrology at work here: Benefic and Malefic.

Neptune is in retrograde at 20 Pis 31' 42"

As the farthest known planet from the Sun in our solar system, Neptune, the 8th planet’s astronomical description is entirely appropriate to its astrological. It’s the densest giant planet and it moves very slowly. In astrology, it rules Pisces and is considered the planet of deception, spirituality, illusion, and addiction. It’s not all bad, though- as with other things, the flip sides are the good sides and intuition, dreams, sensitivity, mercy and compassion also fall under its auspices.

Pluto is in retrograde at 23 Cap 17' 55"

When people write about Pluto, they almost always point out that in Roman mythology, this was the god of the underworld. I think that might be underplaying things just a bit. If you take it back to the earlier version, the Greek, you might get a better idea of what this represents: Hades. Of course in this respect, we’re talking about a God but, the place about sums it up, too. In essence, though, your own personal Hades. Of course, knowledge of Pluto gets just a bit murky on the planetary front when you look at astrology- and I have always found it just a little odd how so many paint the astrology of this planet as ancient when in fact, we didn’t even discover it until 1930. A little kid named it, incidentally, it’s a great story.
